Son of Richard Wright, Jr. and Caroline 'Cary' Kittrell
H/O Holen Wisenhunt
Name is often seen as 'Micajah' [as spelled in father's will].
The following information was provided by Craig Foster, Great-grandson of Micajah Wright:
Micajah Wright (1820-1910) lived in Emmons Township, Davidson County, NC on his father's old place. Micajah was a blacksmith by trade according to family history, but census records consistently record his occupation as a farmer. Further, most census records indicate he and his wife had very little capability of reading or writing.
Micajah, age 23, married Miss Holland "Polly" Wisenhunt, age 19, in 1844 in the County of Davidson, NC. He and his wife had seven children which they raised on their farm prior to the Civil War. In 1864, near the end of the Civil war, at the age of 44, Micajah Wright enlisted in the NC 38th Infantry Regiment-Company B as a Private. His son, Amos Wright, was a Private in the NC 42nd Infantry Regiment.
Micahah and his wife, Polly, had two more daughters after the war and raised a total of nine children on their farm. Polly Wisenhunt lived until 1901 to the age of 76. She died on April 22, one day after their 57th anniversary. Micahah lived until 1910 to the age of 90. He and his wife are buried in the family plot nearby in Emmons Township, which has since passed into other hands.
