Hyram L. Ames "Buck" passed away Sunday, December 3, in the presence of his loving family.
He was born on September 23, 1923 in Roberts Idaho to Hyrum Clark and Hester Saunders Ames. As one of 13 children, Hyram had an adventurous childhood. On his return from WW II he attended the University of Utah where he graduated in 1950 with a degree in psychology. During this time he met and married Anita Jeanne Wignall and together they raised five children. Hyram was a true renaissance man. He was past president of the Utah Iris. Society, an international iris judge, and a breeder of many beautiful iris. He was also expert in birds, tropical fish, and always had a wide variety of exotic pets. He was an avid reader and loved to travel. Hyram designed and built a cabin in the high Uintas which has been a family refuge since the 60's.
He is survived by his sister, Thelma Walker and his children; Steve (Michelle), Mike (Tiffani), Tom (Lori), Chris, (Valerie) and Nannette (Dan); 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Preceded in death by his wife and infant son, Dennis.
Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens.
