John was a Jamestown resident for 30 years and had been employed there at the Smoke Cafe. During his youth, he was employed in farming at Battle Mountain, Nevada. Later he had his own cigar business. Then he was a bartender.
He was five feet, five and a half inches tall and of small build. He had a dark complexion, brown hair, and blue eyes. He was of English and Italian descent.
Death came suddenly in Jamestown. He left behind his wife, Rachel, and nine children. His children were Donna Gallie of San Francisco; Dorothy Kurts of Portugal; Rene Antone of Jamestown; Myrna Bingham of Arizona; and John, Barbara, James, Byron, and Susan, all of Sacramento. He also left a sister, Betty Barrett of Mountain View, and three sisters and a brother in Nevada.
