Anthony J. Schwieterman, 78, R.3, Indiana 26, Portland, Ind., died at 6 p.m. Thursday at Jay County Memorial Hospital, Portland, of pneumonia.

He was born March 1, 1908, in Cassella, the son of Joseph S. and Catherine (Koesters) Schwieterman.

On April 2, 1934 in Fort Recovery, he married Anna Braun, who survives, with a son, Jerry Schwieterman, Portland, and a daughter, Thelma Ann King, Indianapolis, Ind.; two brothers, Henry Schwieterman, Portland, and August Schwieterman, Celina; two half-brothers, Leroy Schwieterman, Burkettsville, and Harold Schwieterman, Crossville, Ala.; a half-sister, Mrs. Joseph (Delores) Dwenger, Celina; a step-brother, Frank Beuter, Burkettsville; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, one half-sister, three half-brothers and one step-sister.

A retired farmer, Mr. Schwieterman was a member of fort Recovery Knights of Columbus, St. Anthony Foresters, and Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, where a mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Urban Dumminger will officiate.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.
