Harry Dale McTague Obituary
AMERICAN FORK--Harry Dale McTague, 76, died Sunday, June 7, 1998 in American Fork.
He was born April 5, 1922 in American Fork, to John Earl and Katherine Robinson McTague. He married Betty Houston, June 3, 1944 in American Fork. They were later sealed in the Provo LDS Temple. Harry graduated from American Fork High School and the University of Utah with a Bachelor's and Master's degree. He took time out from his education during World War II and flew 29 combat missions over Europe as a bombardier and navigator for the 8th Air Force.
He worked for Geneva Works of U.S. Steel, retiring after 35 years as Division Superintendent of Transportation and Services. He was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities. He was active in community affairs and devoted countless hours to volunteer work at the American Fork Hospital.
One of the highlights of Harry's life was coaching little league baseball and Jr. Jazz basketball. Many of these young men have maintained strong and lasting relationships with "Grandpa". After retiring, he spent many enjoyable hours with his buddies on the golf course pursuing that ever-elusive hole-in-one.
Harry is survived by his wife, Betty, of American Fork; twin daughters, Steve and Jone (McTague) Jensen, of Nampa, ID; Ed and Jean (McTague) Jones, of American Fork; grandchildren, John and Jenny (Jensen) Seable; David and Cherie (Jensen) Jenkins; Amy Jensen; Jake Jensen; Jeff; Katie Jones.
Funeral Service will be Thursday, June 11, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the American Fork 8th Ward, 310 North 100 East. Friends may call at Anderson and Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork, Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday at the church one hour prior to service. Burial, American Fork Cemetery.
