William Lee "Bill" Squire, 66, of Syracuse, died Monday, May 18, 2009, at Hamilton County Hospital in Syracuse.
He was born April 24, 1943, in Hutchinson, to Willie A. and Rosa Jane Fulton Squire. When he was 2, the family moved to Syracuse, where he worked with his father on the family farm and dairy throughout his childhood years. He graduated from Syracuse High School in 1962 and continued to work in the family business as well as working for Lawrence Herrmann for six months. In 1965, he went to work for the Kansas Department of Transportation, where he was employed for 37 years, retiring in October 2002.
Mr. Squire was a member of First Christian Church of Syracuse, and enjoyed yard work, home improvement, admiring and working on vehicles, going four-wheeling, automotive work and especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
On Sept. 4, 1979, he married Georgia Christine Brown in Syracuse. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Ronald Nicholas "Nick" Squire of Syracuse; two daughters, Shaeli Christine Brooks of Perry, and Kimberly Christine Urie of Syracuse; a brother, Ron Squire of Garden City; three sisters, June Nickerson of Syracuse, Vera O'Neal of Hutchinson, and Nell Lewis of Cimarron; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral was at the First United Methodist Church, Syracuse. Burial was at Syracuse Cemetery.
