Jane was probably born on Broad Meadows, the plantation of her grandfather John Walker.

Jane's first husband, James Green, Sr. was killed by Indians near the mouth of Indian Creek as it flows into Pound River, VA. on December 31, 1782.

She gave birth to his son, James Green Jr. on February 12, 1783, after her husband was killed.

Jane's second marriage was to Robert Kilgore in 1785, the son of James Green's hunting partner on the trip when James was killed by Indians. Jane and "Robin" Kilgore, are buried in Nickelsville, VA. Cemetery. Robin was the first Mason to be buried in Scott County, VA and he built a fort house on Copper Creek in present Scott Co., VA after his marriage to Jane Porter Green.

Jane and Robert lived many years and had a large family.
