The date of his enlistment in the Pointe Coupee Artillery is unknown but he does appaear on lists of members of Co. B captured at Fort Donelson 16 February 1862. He is listed as a Sergeant . The prisoners of war were sent to Camp Douglas prison near Chicago, Illinois. Prison authorities admitted him to the U.S.A. prison hospital at Camp Douglas, Illinois on May 23 and he died of pneumonia 2 June 1862. He is presumably buried at "Confederate Mound" in Oak Woods Cemetery, Chicago, Illinois.
