GALENA, Ill. -- Lynda Marie (Hanft) Heinze, 57, of St. Louis, formerly of Galena, died Saturday, May 16, 2009, at home after a two-year battle with cancer.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23, at Miller & Steinke Funeral Home, Galena, with the Rev. Phillip Brown officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Galena. Friends may call after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

She was born on June 25, 1951, in Dubuque, daughter of Leo and Doris (Ehrler) Hanft. She was a graduate of the Galena High School, class of 1969.

She married Udo Heinze in 1978 in St. Louis. She was a loving mother to her three sons.

Her career took her to Champaign in the medical field of radiology and later to nuclear medicine.

Surviving are her husband Udo; three sons, Matt, Andy and Stephen, all of St. Louis; her parents, Leo and Doris Hanft, of Galena; three brothers, Richard (Donna), of Ham Lake, Minn., Eric, of Rockford, and Mark (Carmen) Hanft, of Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister, Suzanne Ruth (Don) Dahlstrom, of Des Moines; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
