Daughter of Carl & Joyce Eves, step daughter of Terri Eves. Wife of Michael Baker , mother of Jeannie, Patty Jo , Michael Jr. and Mylinda .

Carla graduated from Lee High School in Wyoming, MI in 1976. After school, she married John Van Dyke, her high school sweet heart. That marriage ended and she married Michael Baker.

Carla, Michael and their children were returning to their home in Sparta when a truck ran a stop sign at Pine Lake and 18 Mile Rd. in Cedar Springs. The Baker car was traveling west bound on 18 Mile Rd. and hit the truck. Carla, Michael, Patty Jo and Mylinda "Mindy" were killed. Daughter Jeannie and son Michael Jr. survived. The police reported that no one in either vehicle were wearing seatbelts.

The funeral for the Baker family was held at Pederson Funeral Home in Rockford. They were buried in the Rockford Cemetery.

Carla was survived by her daughter Jeannie & son Michael Jr., her father Carl and step-mother Terri. Several half and step siblings, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carla was intuitive and could read people. She was unassuming and didn't have to be in the center of attention. When she learned that my favorite poet was Rod McKuen, she located and gave me a record album of a concert he gave. Another time, she gave me a cross necklace that I could read the Lord's Prayer in. My date and I attended prom with Carla and John, and she was my maid of honor, when I married in 1976. For that wedding, she asked me to wear her mother's rhinestone necklace, for my something borrowed.

You haven't ever been forgotten Carla.

October 13,2009, special thanks to Michael Dunne for sponsoring the memorial for Carla!

Patricia Ann Eves Lapp Carla's sister.

James R. Mann II Carla's brother who died in a car accident with his wife Toni & two of his three children, Derrick & Audrey.
