1 Jan 1905: Abraham Light Dubbs, of 539 Cumberland Street, a life long and highly respected citizen of this city, peacefully passed away after a lingering Illness, at his home, at 5:15 o'clock on Sunday afternoon. His death was caused by gastritis, having been confined to his bed for a period of five weeks, For a number of years he had not been in the best of health and about seven years ago he retired from the shoe making business. He was the only remaining son of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Dubbs. He was born at Spring and Chestnuts Streets, this city, and in the early sixties enlisted in the navy on the battleship Cerea, from where he was transferred to Suzannan. His military record was good and he highly prized an honorable discharge from the naval service of his country. When able, he attended St. Paul's Evangelical church and was among the first members of the Sunday school, having first attended 55 years ago. He was kind hearted and wholly unselfish, and many friends mourn his departure. Those who survive him are an only son, Grant Light Dubbs, two sisters, Lucetta B. Dubbs and Sarah V. Wylie, and a nephew, William Wylie, all of this city. [Lebanon Daily News]
