On October 6, 1860 as Lewis Cass Forsyth, he married Janie B. Janvier at the District of Columbia.
They were the parents of four children.

Buried In Arlington
Funeral Services Over Remains of Col. Lewis Cass Forsyth
The remains of Lieutenant Colonel Lewis Cass Forsyth, U.S.A., retired, who died at Sweet Chalybeate Springs, Virginia, last Thursday, were buried in the National Cemetery at Arlington this afternoon with military honors. Religious services were held at the former residence of the deceased, at 926 15th Street, at 3 o'clock and were largely attended, the Loyal Legion being well represented. A battalion of engineers from Washington barracks was present with its band and escorted the remains of the gallant soldier from his former home to the place of interment at Arlington. The usual ceremonies were observed at the grave, including the firing of volleys of musketry and the sounding of taps.

It was erroneously stated that the remains of the late Lieut. Col. Lewis Cass Forsyth were interred in Arlington Cemetery yesterday afternoon. The interment was made in Oak Hill Cemetery, not Arlington.
