Title : Dr. W.H. Austin dies from stroke of apoplexy. Well known physician is stricken at his home during night. 15 years resident here (at 534 Chestnut). had been active in all matters for the city's advancement.

Abstract : Died Dec. 22, 1910. He was 73. He was picking the feathers from wild ducks in the woodshed at the rear of his residence when he complained of a dizzy feeling. He lost consciousness and later died. He was born in Hudson, NY. He came to Long Beach August 24, 1895. From the close of the Civil War until his death he acted as Pension Surgeion, conducting examinations of veterans and submitting his report to pension officials at Washington. He is survived by his wife, Mary; son A.B., a dentist of this city; and W. Horace an architect here.

Title: Handsome mausoleum built at Signal Hill.

Abstract: The mausoleum, said to be the first of its kind in California, was built by Austin's son. It is built of pure white stone, resembling Utah limestone. It is built in Egyptian style and is 13.6x14x12 feet. There are six vaults in it. The big outside door weighs about 100 pounds. There is not one particle of wood in the tomb. Cost about $2000.

THE MAUSOLEUM IS NOT THERE ANYMORE WHAT HAPPENED? THOUGH THERE ARE GRAVE MARKERS AT THE CEMETERY, THE BODIES WERE MOVED TO FOREST LAWN/SUNNYSIDE MAUSOLEUM IN 1958.
