Capt. J. M. Primm, an aged and highly respected citizen of Silver Hill Township, died Friday, Sept. 11 and was laid to rest Sunday at Holloway's Baptist church, hi pastor, Rev. Henry Sheets, of this city, conducting the funeral services. Captain Prim was 80 years old. For many years he was engaged in mining operations in the county and he was well known throughout Davidson. He was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him.
9-23-1914, Silver Hill, Sept 15 A deep gloom was cast over this community in the death of Capt. J. M. Prim last Friday, the 11th. He had been unwell for some weeks but all were hopeful that he was growing better until the day before he passed away. A physician was summoned. He, too, spoke hopefully of his recovery, but all efforts to keep him were of no avail.
Captain Prim was a man of fine character. There was nothing in his life that might not be emulated. He was a true Christian gentleman. Never any but chaste words fell from his lips. He loved everyone and young and old love him. He enjoyed so much his church and Sunday school; was superintendent of Silver Hill Sunday school thirty-seven years, was teacher of a class of boys and girls that he loved so much. This school and his class expressed their love and respect for him by lovely designs of flowers from Greensboro for his casket at the burial. A large number were present at the funeral which was conducted by his pastor, Rev. Henry Sheets, of Lexington. Captain Prim leaves a heart-broke wife and five children. Mrs. E. L. Stoner and Mr. A. E. Prim, of High Point; Mrs. Robert S. Davis, of Bain; J. M. Prim of Broadway, and Mrs. Will H. Johnson, of Silver Hill, who, with a host of friends and relatives are grieved that their loved one is with them no more.
