MONROE -- Miss Nell Austin Griffin, 82, passed away Friday, May 15, 2009 at Carolinas Medical Center in Monroe.
Miss Griffin was born June 25, 1927 in Union County, N.C., a daughter of the late Mr. John Lloyd Griffin and the late Mrs. Mariam Ruth Austin Griffin.
She was retired as church secretary from Benton Heights Baptist Church and was also known as "The Avon Lady" for having sold Avon products all over Monroe and Union County for years.
Miss Griffin is survived by several cousins.
The family will receive friends and relatives for visitation Wednesday afternoon, May 20, 2009 from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at Covenant Baptist Church in Monroe.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday afternoon, May 20, 2009 at Covenant Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Ken Lida and the Rev. Rile Baucom with burial to follow in the Austin Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Marshville, NC.
Memorials may be made in memory of Miss Griffin to Covenant Baptist Church, 2706 Secrest Short Cut Road, Monroe, NC 28110.
