Mrs. Ollie Owens, 45 years old, who lived in the bottoms below Van Buren, was fatally injured about 7 a.m. Tuesday when she apparently was struck by a bolt of lightning as she was going from the farm house to a barn behind the house.
Her husband who was away from home at the time, told ambulance attendant he was informed his wife had picked up a basket and started toward a barn behind the house. He said a heavy rain had started and when his wife did not return immediately his daughter decided to go out and help her mother.
He said his wife was found lying face down in a pool of water.
An Ocker ambulance of Van Buren brought the body to Sparks Memorial Hospital.
