Matthew A. Beck, died unexpectedly on May 15 at Clifton-Fine Hospital.

He was born on July 26, 1989, on Pease Air Force Base in Portsmouth, NH. He is the child of Giselle "Jill" Beck-Green and Francis "Butch" Beck. Matt graduated from Clifton-Fine Central School in 2006 and from BOCES with instruction on welding.

Matt has worked for McDonald's in Gouverneur for the past four years. He has lived in Star Lake and enjoyed four-wheeling, playing golf, paintball, and playing pool with his friends. Matt liked to hunt and is a member of the Star Lake Volunteer Fire Department. He had served as an altar boy for St. Hubert's Church for many years. He enjoyed going on Caribbean cruises with his mother, stepfather, brother, grandmother, uncles Wally and Pete and aunt Cheryl. Matt really enjoyed spending time and working with his favorite aunt, Nancy. Matt was an all-around great person who was out-going and friendly.

His survivors include his mother and stepfather, Jill Beck-Green and David Green of Schenectady; his father and stepmother, Butch and Angela Beck of Clearwater, FL; his maternal grandparents, Theresa and Fred Stotzer of Star Lake; a maternal stepgrandmother, Joan Green of Schenectady; four brothers; Marc D. and Pauline of Star Lake, but currently stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, Andrew M. and his fiancé, Brittany Cole of Star Lake, Jaden T. Green of Schenectady, and Mark R. of Clearwater, FL; a niece, Makayla Beck and a nephew, Andrew Beck, both of Star Lake. Matthew is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Mildred and Francis Beck; and his maternal grandfather, Thomas Green.

Calling hours will be at French Family Funeral Home, 4159 St. Hwy 3, Star Lake on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. His funeral mass will be on Wednesday, May 20 at 11 a.m. at St. Hubert's Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Decker officiating. Burial will be in St. Hubert's Cemetery. There will be a reception following at the Star Lake Fire Department.

Donations may be made to the Star Lake Fire Department or to St. Hubert's Catholic Church.
