W. Virgil Hottinger, 94, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at the Brethren Home Community, New Oxford, Pa. He was the husband of the late Jane (Offutt) Hottinger, who died April 26, 1992.

He was born Nov. 7, 1914 in Petersburg, W.Va.

He was a member of Epworth U.M. Church, Gaithersburg, a World War II Navy veteran, and a member of the Carpenters and Joiners Union and the National Watch and Clock Collectors Association in Gaithersburg.

He is survived by three sons, Virgil C. Hottinger and his wife Jeanne of Naples, Fla., William E. Hottinger and his wife Doris of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Rev. G. Robert Hottinger and his wife Pamela of Glenwood; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Muriel L. Beall of Rockville and Reba M. Connelly of Gettysburg, Pa.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, Monocacy Cemetery, 19801 W. Hunter Road, Beallsville. Rev. G. Robert Hottinger will officiate. There will be no viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 3535, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
