U.S. Congressman. Born the brother of Thomas Stone, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and of John Hoskins Stone, 9th Governor of Maryland, he was the owner of the Haberdeventure Estate plantation, Maryland. He was a member of the Maryland State House of Delegates, (1781-83) and a member of the Maryland State ratification convention in 1788. In 1789, he was elected as an Anti-Administration candidate to the First Congress, serving until 1791. After leaving Congress, he was appointed judge of the first judicial district of Maryland and served until his death.
