Services for Mary Sue Hall Deen, 84, Wills Point, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 7, at First Baptist Church, Wills Point, with Bro. Don Tisdale and Bro. Garland Whitmire officiating.
Burial was in White Rose Cemetery, under direction of Herschel LyBrand Funeral Home, Wills Point.
Mrs. Deen died January 5, 2001, at her residence in the Enterprise Community.
She was born November 9, 1916, in Tyler to the late Felix Roberts and Susie Loring Hall. At a young age, her family moved to Canton, where her father owned and operated Hall Abstract until his death in 1926.
Mary Sue attended the Canton schools, where she graduated as valedictorian of the class of 1934. After attending North Texas State University, she returned to Canton to live.
Mary Sue began her walk with Christ at an early age. While in high school, she led the Canton Student Body in their vespers service each week and taught the youth in Sunday school at First Baptist Church in Canton. After moving to Wills Point, she taught Sunday school classes at First Baptist Church, Chapel of the Lake and Severn Oaks Baptist Church, all in and around Wills Point. At the time of her death, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Wills Point.
Mary Sue Hall married Roy DeWitt Deen April 11, 1941, in Canton; then they began their life together in the Enterprise Community north of Wills Point, where they reside today. To this marriage, six children were born.
While caring for her children, Mary Sue always found time to serve her church and community. She went about helping others with a smile on her face, never complaining. She loved life and arose each day, thanking God for the day He had made and closed each day praising God for that day. She definitely knew she had a friend in Jesus and was always willing to share His love with others.
Mary Sue wore many hats in her life and wore each one in a very special way. She was a loving, supporting wife, a super mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, a special friend, a great Sunday school teacher, and an excellent cook.
Where there is love, life continues, and even though Mary Sue will truly be missed, we know that her memory will live on through the unconditional love that she showed to all.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Rober L. Hall; and grandson, Trevor Dan Deen.
