Dr. Gann was born near Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Emory University in 1886 and practiced in Atlanta before moving to Arkansas in 1888. He settled in Benton when the population was 800. When the city received telephone service, he was given the number 2. He was a Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Baptist Church. Dr. Gann was an organizer of the Saline County Medical Society. He retired from obstetrics in August 1937 but continued practicing as a surgeon and general practitioner.
