Esther Belle Gowin Hudson was born July 3, 1924, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to William and Isabelle Gowin. She spent her childhood growing up in Oklahoma with several brothers and sisters.
After her family moved to California she attended King City High School and then married Howard Hudson who spent many years farming on Bitterwater Road and then 24 years as the judge in King City. Esther was active in Full Gospel Church in King City before moving to Monterey in 1995. Her love and commitment to her Lord was evident to all who knew her.
Esther was a devoted mother of four children: Deanna Hudson Shires, Sharyl Hudson Shires, Mark Hudson and Timothy Hudson. She had eleven grandchildren: Heidi Shires Scaroni, Rebecca Shires Crandall, Sharise Shires Salcido, Kimberly Shires Wageneck, Jennifer Hudson Foskett, Deric Shires, Todd Shires, Amber Hudson, Wendi Shires Ferronato, Cole Hudson, and Whitney Hudson. She had 22 great grandchildren.
Besides her immediate family, she is survived by one sister, Carolyn Cochran of Fresno, two brothers, Herb Gowin of Fresno and Kenneth Gowin of Battle Mountain, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her parents, several siblings, her husband Howard and one great-grandson, Taylor Hudson Wageneck. She joined them in heaven on May 10, 2009.
