Her husband joined Company H, 11th Infantry, Georgia Regiment of the Confederate Army on 3 Jul 1861, and was discharged on 30 Apr 1862. While in the army he contracted consumption and died 12 April 1865 after his release from the army. Emily applied for Widows Confederate Pension in 1891 and received this pension from 1891 to 1900 at her death.
