Iola Kennedy Briggs, 89, died Friday, May 8, 2009, at Candler Hospital in Savannah. She was born October 31, 1919, in Long County, Georgia, to J. C. Kennedy, Sr., and Annie McCumbie Wilson. She lived in Brunswick most of her life. She was retired after 52 years as a supervisor from Kings Sea Harvest in Brunswick. She loved to work in her yard and take care of her flowers. She was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church in Brunswick. She was preceded in death by brothers: L. K. Kennedy, Audie Kennedy, J. C. "Boe" Kennedy, Otis W. Kennedy, and Willie R. "Kenner" Kennedy.
She is survived by nephew, Mike Kennedy of Brunswick; nieces, Dale K. Welchel of Sugar Hill and Debbie K. Guisinger of Canton; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, May 11, at Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rick Cason officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Danny Terrell, Mitch Kennedy, Wayne Terrell, Mike Horn, Reginald Terrell, and Andy Wilson, Jr.
Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.
