DOROTHY KNAPP DIES AS A RESULT OF BURNS

Little Dorothy Jane Knapp, 10 year old daughter of Albert W. Knapp, of Kickapoo who was seriously burned last Friday [Jan 9, 1920] at the family home, died from the effects of the burns at 4 o'clock Sunday morning [Jan 11, 1920]. Funeral services were held from the residence Tuesday afternoon and burial in Mount Munice (sic) Cemetery.

The accident occurred by her clothes becoming ignited by standing too near a hot stove. They had been saturated with coal oil while filling a lamp just a few minutes previously. Her screams attracted the other members of the household who were in the yard but were unable to extinguish the flames before she was fatally burned.

The deceased was a remarkably sweet and pretty child and was general favorite with all in school and at home.

The entire community extends their heartfelt sympathies to the grief stricken ones.
