Glenda Porter Bushman, 90, died of heart failure June 23 2001, at home in Riverton UT, where she lived for two years with her daughter, Janene (Larry Richins),their children and dogs (all of whom she adored.)

She was born in Joseph City AZ June 15, 1911, the eldest child of Jane Rogers and Aaron Bond Porter. She married Mitchell Smith Bushman in the Mesa AZ Temple.
They lived many years in Show Low where Mrs. Bushman taught school for 33 years.
She had a passion for learning that led her to pursue education at every opportunity. She traveled the world, eventually visiting 41 countries. She used all her experiences to enrich her classrooms and entertain her many friends.

Mrs. Bushman's assignments in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints were many and varied, but she especially enjoyed teaching the Sunday School
Gospel Doctrine and Relief Society Cultural Refinement classes.

She was also a major force in establishing the Show Low PTA, the Show Low chapter of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, the Navajo County Historical Society, and the Show Low Stake Genealogical Extraction Program.

In recognition of her outstanding teaching abilities, she was awarded the National American Freedom Foundation Award. Among the hundreds of students who benefited from this wonderful woman's teachings were her grateful children and grandchildren - Boyd B Bushman (Mary Ellen) of Lewisville TX, their 6 children and 17 grands, Patty (Fred Nielson)- 5 children and 11 grands, and Janene (Larry Richins) - 2 children and 1 grand.

Mrs. Bushman is also survived by brothers - Lester Porter of Midvale UT and Hal Porter of Holbrook, sisters - Vonda Foote of Mesa and Minnie Bushman from Joseph City.

Two sons precede her in death - Warren Mitchell Bushman and Derryl Porter Bushman, as well as her husband of 28 years, Mitchell S. Bushman.

Funeral services were held June 27, 2001 in the Show Low Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Arrangements were by Owens
Mortuary.
