Daughter of Abigail Ray and Benoni Griffin III. Amarilla married first a Ketcham and then a Doane after being single for the First forty five years of her life. She died in 1886 at the age of eighty, having outlived both of her husbands. She appears in the 1850 US census as Amarilla Griffin, living at home with Martha, 62, and Mahala, 20. She was 45 then, and the three women were probably living in the original Griffin house. Her brother, Benoni, his wife, Sarah and three children lived in the newer Griffin house. She was married to Isaac Ketcham by Sept 9, 1854 when she and Isaac Ketcham witnessed a contract, and signed their names (Griffin Papers). Her husband, Issac Ketcham died in 1856. In the 1860 census she is listed as Amarilla Ketcham, 54, a widow, living with Benoni Griffin, her brother, who now had six children. After that, Amarilla was married, again, 19 NOV 1862 in Sudbury, Rutland, Vermont, to Tehan Doane of Hubbardton. A letter from Susan Williams (cousin) in Saratoga to Benoni and Sarah, written in 1863 asks how Amarilla is getting along in her new home, and invites Amarilla and her husband to Saratoga for a visit. She must be referring to Mr. Doane. Mr. Doane later died and is buried in Hubbardton with his first wife. Amarilla is buried in Willow Brook Cemetery as Amarilla Doane. She had no children.
