T 5 US ARMY WORLD WAR II

Son of Fred HUFFORD and Ethel Rose SMITH. By 1930, when he was only six years old, Stanley was living as a boarder in Los Angeles with Ben and Catherine FENSTER, in what may have been a foster home situation.

According to the 1930 census, Stanley's parents were born in Ohio. (However both his first marriage record and his death certificate say that his mother was born in Missouri.)

In 1930, Stanley traveled to Germany with Ben and Catherine Fenster, who were described as his guardians on the ship's passenger list. The three traveled on the S.S. Europa, sailing from Bremen, Germany, on August 6, 1930, and arriving in the Port of New York on August 12, 1930.

On October 15, 1940, Stanley was 16, had three years of high school, and had been living in Washington Co., Oklahoma, when he enlisted in the U.S. Army in Fort Knox, Kentucky. He mis-reported his year of birth as 1922. He enlisted in the Medical Department, for service in the Philippines. His civilian occupation was reported as "telegraph messenger." He was single, with no dependents, 5 feet & 5 inches tall, and weighed 115 pounds. He served until March 9, 1943.

On May 21, 1944, he married Barbara Alene CLARKE, in Los Angeles, California. He reported his age as 22 and named his parents as "Fred Hufford" and "Ethel Rose." (Conflict: Both the California birth index and his death certificate give his mother's name as "Ethel Smith." It appears that he omitted his mother's last name and included only her first and middle names.) His wife Barbara was 25, the daughter of Milton Elliott CLARKE and Hazel J. BEACH. Stanley reported his occupation as "Electrician" on the marriage record.

In December 1953, he was living at 14618 Gault Street, Van Nuys, California.

In 1962, his legal address was 6808 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, California. He was a registered voter and was listed as having registered as a Republican.

In 1967, he married Joyce Merle GRAYSON (born KEYSER) in Las Vegas, Nevada. A son was born to the marriage. (Joyce was born 19 Sep 1931 in Alabama.)

Funeral arrangements were by Utter-McKinley Mission Hills Mortuary.
