Otto Henry Nehring, son of Carl and Augusta (Raschke) Nehring was born July 14, 1887 at Des Moines, Ia., and departed this life in St. Catherine's Hospital October 10, 1956, a victim of a heart attack.

He attended primary school in his youth and grew to manhood on a farm near St. Charles, Ia. He was married to Agatha Lippold Apr. 17, 1919, at St. Mary's, Ia. To this union one child, Mrs. Alvina Kogl was born.

In March 1920 the family moved to Herndon, Kansas and resided on a farm northwest of here. His wife passed away November 7, 1931.

On November 28, 1934, he was married to Mrs. Mary Copley and moved to a farm southwest of Culbertson, Nebr. In April 1955, he retired from farming, and moved to Culbertson, where he resided until his death.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Mary, his daughter, Mrs. Alvina Kogl, five grandchildren Clemens Kogl of [left out of obit] (Culbertson, Melvin of Bridgeport, Nebr. and Dorothy Reinert of Atwood) Eileen and Tommy Joe Kogl of Herndon. One stepdaughter, and two step-sons. Six great grandchildren, eleven step-grandchildren, and a host of nephews, nieces, and friends.

His body laid in state at the Breland Funeral Chapel, McCook, Nebraska.

On Saturday Octrober 13, 1956 at 9:30 a.m. Requiem High Mass was sung at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, McCook, Nebr. with Rev. Fr. E. Trayers O.M.I. officiating. After the Mass, the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Council of North Platte, Nebr., (of which he was a member) presented the family with a gold chalice--which in turn is to be given to be used by some needy mission--in the offering of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

Pall bearers were three grandsons, Clemens Kogl, Melvin Kogl and Peter Reinert, two step-grandsons, Roger and Gordon Moore, and one God-child, Lester Ketterl. Eight members of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus were honor guards.

The body was laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery Herndon, Kansas with Rev. Fr. Walter Hermann officiating. St. Mary's Choir sang the responses and a hymn.

Out of town relatives here for the funeral were his sister, Mrs. Anna Lucas of Burlingame, Calif.; his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Nehring, St. Charles, Iowa; a stepson, Mr. William Copley, Marsing, Idaho; Melvin Kogl of Bridgeport, Nebr., and other relatives and friends from points in Nebraska and Colorado and locally from Trenton, Culbertson, McCook, Atwood, Colby, and Herndon, Kansas.
