Washington -- Ben Brungardt, 91, Washington, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at a Washington nursing home. He was born Jan. 31, 1910, in St. Peter, the son of Joseph and Clara Brown Brungardt.

Mr. Brungardt was a retired farmer. He had lived in the Washington area since 1936. Mr. Brungardt was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and the Bondville Club.

He married Isabel M. Linenberger on May 28, 1935, in Oakley, Neb. She survives.

Other survivors include four sons, Robert Brungardt, Auburn, Neb., Larry Brungardt, Torrington, Wyo., Jerry Brungardt, Thornton, Colo., and Dennis Brungardt, Overland Park; three daughters, Betty Prellwitz, Morrowville, Clarabelle Blenderman, Elkhorn, Neb., and Judy Bridges, Washington; 20 grandchildren; 27 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Brungardt was preceded in death by a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Palmer. Burial will be in Washington City Cemetery. Mr. Brungardt will lie in state from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Ward Funeral Home in Washington, where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Ben Brungardt Memorial Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.
