The funeral service for Olive Carrie O'Harra will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home, 1811 Ashland Street, Ashland, Ore. The First United Methodist Church, Medford, Ore., will officiate. Immediately after the service, burial will be held at the Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland, Ore.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2008 from 5-8 p.m. at Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home.

Olive Carrie O'Harra, 91, died unexpectedly on August 13, 2008, at Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford, Ore. She was born Sept. 28, 1916, at Beaver City, Oklahoma, to Lewis and Melissa Hill. When she was seven her family travelled from Okla., by covered wagon via Fife, Idaho, Settling in the Wagner Creek area of Southern Oregon. After graduating from Talent High School, she then attended Southern Oregon Normal School (now SOU). She worked for Talent Irrigation District as a bookkeeper for a number of years.

On Valentine's Day 1942, she married Dale O'Harra, of Ashland, Ore., who survives. They had a wonderful 66 years of marriage that produced two wonderful children and two wonderful great-granddaughters.

Besides being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she has helped run the business of Jacksonville Lumber Company as a co-owner. She was a member of the Talent Garden Club and the First United Methodist Church in Medford, Ore.

In 1995, she and her husband became Disciples of the Lord through intense Bible study. Her faith continued to grow as she was his trusted servant.

She loved to garden, loved her flowers, and was accomplished in stitchery, decorating many pillow cases and sheets for family and loved ones. She also loved reading and writing poetry.

Survivors in addition to her husband Dale, of Medford, include son, Dale, and his wife, Marilyn, of Belmont, Calif.; and daughter, Shannon Pearce, and her husband, Gary, of Portland Ore.; and her two granddaughters, Erin and Lindsay Pearce. She is also survived by her sister, Opal Parisotto, of Klamath Falls, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She will be missed greatly by all of her many loved ones and friends, but will always remain alive in their hearts.
