Capt Poorman began his career at the Clinton County Armory in Lockport PA, Company H, 12th Infantry. During the WWI, the President of the United States assigned him to patrol the Mexican border because Mexico was favoring Germany. He commanded 1st Calvary, Troop K. Having failed the physical examination to re-enlist, he worked in Lock Haven and died there one year later.
