Ret. MSGT Jacob "Rick" Richardson, 75, U.S. Army, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, fell asleep in death on Wednesday, May 10, 2006.

He was born to Charlie Richardson and Mattie Mae Ransom Richardson, January 1, 1931 in Crescent City, FL.

He was a strong-minded, honest, determined and loving person to all who really knew him. He did not hesitate to verbalize his sincere, honest opinion about any situation which would often result in laughter; but truth.

He was a devoted family man who showed his care and support for the well-being of his wife, children and grandchild.

Jacob retired from the U.S. Army after 30 years of dedicated service in 1971.

Cherishing his memories are his devoted wife, Mary Cunningham Richardson; one daughter, Sandra Lynn Richardson, Hampton, VA; one son, Tracy Duane Richardson (Karen), Newport News, VA; one brother, Lewis James Richardson; four sisters, Julia Chance of Welaka, FL, Mary Lee Richardson of St. Petersburg, FL, Elnora Singletary of Sanford, FL, Hazel Hurdle of Portsmouth, VA; one granddaughter, Cameryn Richardson, Newport News, VA; two sisters-in-law, Ardell Farmer of Danville, VA and Shirley Craig of Plainfield, NJ; two brothers-in-law, Maynard Cunningham (Sandra) of Danville, VA and James Wayne Cunningham (Shirley) of Danville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Viewing held 11am to 7pm Monday, May 15, 2006, at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. A funeral service was held 11am Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at Ivy Baptist Church, with Pastor Kevin Swann officiating. Interment Hampton Memorial Gardens with Full Military Honors. Family and friends assembled at 143 Pamela Dr., Hampton, VA by 10:15am on Tuesday, May 16, 2006.
