Eldo L. Farrow, 83, of Jackson passed away Friday, May 15, 2009, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 21, 1925, in Egypt Mills, son of William and Carrie Rahkopf Farrow. He and Betty Ann Masterson were married June 22, 1947, in Cape Girardeau. She passed away Dec. 11, 2008.

Eldo attended the former Indian Creek School. He served in the U.S. Army, entering on Nov. 10, 1943, and was honorably discharged on April 22, 1946; serving in World War II. In 1949 Eldo and Betty moved to Jackson from Cape Girardeau. He resided in Jackson until his move to the Missouri Veterans Home in 2006. For a number of years Eldo cut and purchased timber in the surrounding areas, and he worked for Frisco and Burlington Northern Railroads. He retired in 1984 after he sustained an injury while on the job. Eldo was a member of the American Legion in Jackson.

Loving survivors include two daughters, Charlotte (John) Peters of Marble Hill, Mo., Carol Ann (Roger) Tripp of Sikeston, Mo.,; four grandchildren, Michael Lee Welker, Amy Kasten, Lisa Statler and Johnny L. Peters; six great-grandchildren, Drue Welker, Caleb and Kelsey Kasten, Kathlyn and Kristin Statler, and Dylan Snell; two brothers, Otis Farrow of North Carolina and Nelson Farrow of Jackson; and a sister, Della Robinson of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, with an American Legion service at 7 p.m.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating.

Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau, with full military honors.

Memorials may be made to Southeast Hospice or your charity of choice.
