Lynda Lea Phillips, 48, Independence, MO passed away Thursday, May 14, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Burial at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community of Christ Blue Ridge Church.

Lynda was born February 22, 1961 in Independence, MO the daughter of Gerald Gomer, Jr. and Shirley (Hayward) Phillips. She was employed with the Veteran of Foreign Wars Headquarters for 20 years as a clerk. Lynda was a member of the Community of Christ Blue Ridge Church where she was a Deacon, Youth Leader for (JAM) "Jesus and Me Youth Group" and a member of the Bell Choir. She was also a member of the Star Trek and Barry Manilow Fan Club, and enjoyed reading, cross-stitch and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her mother, Shirley Phillips of Independence; brother, Glen Phillips (Pamela) of Independence; niece, Samantha and nephew, Nickolas.
