Anthony Francis Mesa was born on 21 October 1911 at Gilroy, California. His parents are not known at this time.

On 17 December 1937 Anthony was inducted into the United States Army. He served about seven years, 7 months and 20 days and was honorably discharged on 6 August 1945.

A few years later, on 3 March 1948 Anthony again enlisted in the United States Army. This time serving twelve years, nine months and twenty seven days. He was honorably discharged and retired from active duty on 30 December 1960, as a Sargent First Class. Served a total of twenty years, five months, and sixteen days.

On 17 August 1956, at Montery, California he married Beatrice Lee (Rawlings) Burch. They remained together until Anthony's death.

On 30 July 1992 Anthony passed away , at the age of eighty years of age. He was laid to rest at the Washington Veterans Home Cemetery at Retsil, Washington.
