He was born September 25, 1902, Ramsey, Illinois the son of Walter Sidney and Effie (Nichols) Blankenship. He married Edith Holtcamp April 16, 1930 in Ramsey, Illinois. She passed away January 18, 1993.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in First Baptist Church, Ramsey, Illinois with Revs Dee Speer, Norris Price, and Ernest Flowers officiating. Marti Turner was organist and Nelvin Williams was vocalist. Visitation was Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Ramsey, Illinois, and one hour before services at the church. Burial was in Ramsey Cemetery. Pall bearers were David and Mark Blankenship, Robert Durbin, Mike Peterson, Jeff Roof and Bob Shannon. Honorary pallbearers were Ramsey Baptist Church Deacons.
Rev. Blankenship was a retired minister, pastoring churches in central Illinois for 65 years. He was a member of Lincoln Southern Baptist Church, Lincoln, Illinois.
He is survived by Rev. Dennis Blankenship, Lincoln, Illinois; Norris Blankenship, Sparta, Illinois; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Blankenship; one brother and three sisters.
