Dean Gifford Huntsman, age 79, passed away on March 6, 1998 at home in Bountiful, Utah of causes incident to age.
He was born December 31, 1918 in Woodville, Idaho the fifth child of Evan Wesley and Martha Elnora Gifford Huntsman. He is survived by his eternal companion Dorothy Carter Huntsman to whom he was married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, June 2, 1945.He lived and grew up on the farm in Woodville, graduating from Shelley High. He attended Utah State University for a short time before serving a mission from 1938-40 in the Hawaiian Islands. He served his country in World War II, from 1940-44. He served as a Bonneville County Commissioner and in 1973 moved his family to Boise, Idaho with the position of the State Executive Director of County Commissioners. He retired as the Coordinator of the Bishop's Storehouse for the LDS Church.
He was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving many positions including Bishop of the Woodville Ward and on the Shelley Stake High Council. He and his wife Dorothy served missions at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City and later at the Toronto, Ontario Temple.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; six children, Brenda Kehoe, Mrs. Dena (Tom) Rigby, Craig and Debbie Huntsman, Mark and Tracy Huntsman, Mrs. Lei Lani (Ardel) Moffett, and Mrs. Laurie (Ray) Malott; 24 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one sister, Bertha Markey; three brothers, Evan, Max, and Donald; and numerous extended family and friends. Preceded in death by infant daughter, Cherrie; infant great-grandson, Trevor; his parents; sisters, Delilah, Verona, and LaReah; brothers, Reed and Newell.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 10, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Bountiful 4th Ward, 102 East, 1400 South, Bountiful, where friends may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services and Monday, March 9 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful. Funeral services will also be held Wednesday March 11, 1998 at 12 noon in the Woodville Ward Chapel in Woodville, Idaho, where friends may call from 1030-1130 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Woodville Idaho Cemetery.
