VALLONIA -- Dorothy C. Benham, 93, of Columbus, formerly of Brownstown, died at 9:17 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2002, at Willow Crossing Health and Rehabilitation in Columbus.

She was a chef and a member of Vallonia United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Elks and Eagles clubs of Palm Springs, Calif.

There will be no funeral or calling. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus.

Arrangements were made by Johnson Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Bartholomew County.

Born Sept. 5, 1908, in Vallonia, she was the daughter of Virgil and Anna Belle McElfresh Crockett. She married Lynn Hanley Benham Dec. 8, 1951, in Jeffersonville. He died Aug. 14, 1995.

Survivors include children, Richard D. Robison of Brownstown and Donna Allman of Columbus; a brother, Francis Marion "Pick" Crockett of Tennessee; sisters, Hassey Kifel of Cincinnati and Alta "Crick" Jackson of Scottsburg; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
