She married Max Little Swapp (1914-1987) August 3, 1946 in the St. George Temple. Sylva was raised in St. George and attended local schools. After high school she attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City. She worked for Greyhound Bus Company in Las Vegas for two years.
She was secretary for President Harold S. Snow of the St. George Temple, where she prepared sealing certificates, including her own. She then became secretary for West Elementary School for Douglas Lindsay.
She was a member of the LDS Church and taught Primary for many years. Her main hobbies were events and socials with ADQ Club of eight girls for 80 years. She was always a gracious hostess. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and many, many friends. As a young girl, she spent summers in Pinto and after marriage summers in Uneka in Garfield County, where they raised sheep and cattle. She had a great sense of humor and many laughed with her.
Sylva is survived by Melvin R. Swapp; Danny Snow Swapp (Neila) ; and Suzanne Swapp Mitchell all of St. George, Utah; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; her sister Maxine (Alex) Spevak of Cedar City, Utah; her brother Arthur (Emma) Snow of St. George, Utah; her sister-in-laws Evelyn Snow of St. George, Utah and Shirley Swapp of Bountiful, Utah; her brother-in-law Roger Pickett of St. George, Utah.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers Spencer Snow and Richard Snow, sister and brother-in-law Georgia and Harry Knell and sister Lucille Snow Pickett.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 16, 2009 at the St. James LDS Ward Chapel, 1095 E. St. James Lane, St George, Utah. Interment will be at the St. George City Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary,
