William moved from Clark Co., Kentucky with his parents in a wagon train to Boone Co., Missouri in 1829. There he married in 1842. He built a saw mill on the Platte River close to the Kansas/Missouri border. They lost several children attributed to living so close to the river. He died of tuberculosis, his wife moved to Chetopa, Kansas to live with her daughter Mary after her husband died.
