She was born Sept. 1, 1922, at the Hilton House in Phillips, the daughter of Charles and Ella (Webber) Avery.
She attended Phillips schools. She married Kenneth McLaughlin in 1939. She worked in a Farmington shoeshop and later became a cook in a local restaurant, which she thoroughly enjoyed. For many years, she was remembered by many as a cashier for Edmunds' Store later, retiring in 1995. She enjoyed being with her family and children, enjoyed cooking and playing cards with her friends.
She is survived by a son, Dennis and his wife, Nyoka, of Phillips; a daughter, Clarice Hodges and husband, Larry, of Dixfield; grandchildren Jeffrey Hodges, Denise Goulet, Bradley Hodges and Daniel McLaughlin; and great-grandchildren Zachary, Tanner, JD. Shandi, Jake, Baylie and Hannah.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband and her brother, Reynold Avery.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, at the Mile Square Cemetery in Avon with the Rev. Sue Kaplin Burgess officiating. Arrangements under the care and direction of Dan & Scott's Cremation and Funeral Service, 445 Waterville Road, Skowhegan, ME 04976.
