LeRoy Bragg, early day resident of Colorado, died at St. Joseph Hospital Sunday, at age 74. He succumbed after several months of failing health.
Mr. Bragg was born at St. Paul, Minnesota on Feb. 11, 1861 and spent his boyhood and early youth in Minnesota. In 1880 he came west and made his home in Colorado, coming to the San Luis Valley about the time of the first Summitville mining boom. For several years he worked in the Summitville and Creede mining camps.
In the spring of 1888, Mr. Bragg and Hattie Simpson of Del Norte were married. To this union were born five children, William, now deceased; Nellie Ruth Hutchinson, also deceased; Hiram of Del Norte; Myrtle of Del Norte; and Doris Jordan of Del Norte.
Besides his wife, daughters and son, Mr. Bragg is survived by three grandchildren, Lee Hutchinson, Ann and Catherine Margaret Jordan; two brothers, Julius and George, who reside in Oregon; and other relatives.
After quitting mining, Mr. Bragg farmed west of town and since 1930 has resided in Del Norte.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Methodist Church with Rev. J.L. Chestnutt in charge. Burial was in the Del Norte cemetery.
