Christina May Howard, 88, a longtime resident of Colorado Springs passed away Friday, May 8, 2009. Christina was born February 15, 1921 in Simla, Colorado to Mable Irwin and John Ohlemacher.

She lived most of her young life in Elbert and Kiowa, Colorado. She met and married Donald W. Rogers with whom she had 1 daughter, Leona. They divorced a short time later and she took a job at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in the laundry to support herself and her young daughter.

It was there that she met John Howard. They soon married and John adopted her daughter to raise as his own. They lived in Parker, Colorado, where John worked as a General Contractor until he retired in 1965. Upon retiring Christina and John moved to Colorado Springs, where they lived until his death in 1985. Christina was always a strong and independent person and remained so until her death.

Christina is also preceded in death by her two brothers, Jerry and Bill Ohlmacher. She is survived by 1 brother Leroy Ohlemacher of Spokane, WA and 1 sister Eva Jones-MacDougall of Seattle, WA.

She is survived by her daughter Leona (Tom) Medlin of Colorado Springs, CO and 3 granddaughters; Melissa (Tom) Mabry of Peyton, CO, Karen (Matt) Redmon of Fairbanks, AK, and Beverly Medlin of Colorado Springs, CO and 4 great-grandkids Tasha, Amber, Kalie and Lane. Her furry friend Rocket also survived her, whom she had cared for 17 years.

A visitation is scheduled from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2009, Swan-Law Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at the Swan-Law Cascade Chapel.

Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Colorado Springs, CO.
