Mitchell Smith Bushman (75) formerly of Show Low, Arizona died Tuesday, November 10, 1987 in West Jordan, Utah of complications following hip replacement
surgery.

He was born to Preston A. and Daphne Decker Bushman on July 28, 1912 in Snowflake AZ. His father had 4 children (Joseph, Georganna, Garland, and Virginia) with Anna Smith, who died young. Preston and 2nd wife, Daphne, had
Mitchell, Vaughn, Milton, Louis, Rex, John and Preston Junior (later adopting Lyle.) They were raised on a ranch in Dry Lake AZ. Mitch loved ranch life and adored horses. From an early age he learned to work hard and pray with faith.

He married Dorothy Armeda Tenney October 2, 1931. His first son, Warren Mitchell, was born not long before the couple separated. After this marriage dissolved, he (and Warren) married Glenda Porter in the Mesa AZ temple December 21, 1934. Four more children blessed this union - Boyd B, Patty, Derral, and Janene. After 28 years, he and Glenda divorced. Then on January 7, 1964 he
married Anna LaRee Beckham. She and her daughters, Jacqueline and Juanita were sealed to him in the Salt Lake Temple at that time.

In his early married years, Mitchell earned a living as a salesman/ deliveryman for Holsum Bread Bakery. Then he and his brothers owned and operated the Show Low Modern Dairy. He tried his hand at selling cars, farming in Iowa, driving a fuel truck for Shell Oil Company, working for Arizona Highway Department, as a night watchman for Reidhead Sawmill in Show Low, and logging.

In 1972 he was crippled and almost killed when an uninsured drunk driver hit him head-on as he was taking a trailer of animals to a stock auction in the Phoenix
area. For the last 18 years of his life he was on crutches or in a wheelchair.

The constant in Mitchell's life was his testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints his entire life.

He had a beautiful baritone singing voice and generously shared his talent singing solos at church meetings, wedding receptions, funerals and civic events.
He sang in many choirs. He sang informally for friends and family. One story he fondly told was of taking Janene with him on a long trip. After bouncing to the hum of the motor all the way to Ship Rock NM, she lay down on the seat and prepared to take a little nap. "Sing, ‘Now Is The Hour,' Daddy" she said. He recalled that as he sang, "That sweet little child drifted off to sleep."

Now is indeed the hour when we must say good-bye, Dad. We'll all miss your songs and happy nature. Mitchell was preceded in death by 2 sons (Warren and Derral), his parents, and 4 brothers (Garland, Vaughn, Milton and Rex.) "God Be With You ‘Til We Meet Again."
