Cleo Doreen Scholz Eyre, 85, of Menan, died May 13, 2009, at Madison Memorial Hospital.
She was born September. 13, 1923, in Thermopolis, Wyoming, to Alvon M. Scholz and Annie Rozella Wirth Scholz. She was raised and attended schools in Thermopolis, graduating from Thermopolis High School.
On February 17, 1953, she married Alvin Maxwell Eyre in Worland, Wyoming. Their marriage was solemnized February 24, 1965, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She worked as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell, as a waitress in Thermopolis, and she worked at Homelodge Resort near Jackson, Wyoming.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Primary and Relief Society. She was a member of the Rigby Chansonettes and sang with them for many years. Cleo enjoyed crocheting, knitting, gardening, canning and playing the piano and organ; she especially loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Aldean (Jeff) Haskell of Moore, Doreen (Lyle) Kirkpatrick of Rigby, Julie Eyre of Menan, and Diane (Brian) Romrell of Orem, Utah; son, Andrew Scholz Eyre of Menan; 24 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, two brothers, and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2009, at the Menan Stake Center, with Bishop Garth Gunderson conducting. Burial will be in Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
