He was mustered in on the 21st day of November, 1863, to serve three years, in Capt. Joseph E. Fiske's company, Company H, 2d Regiment of Mass. Heavy Artillery, and he was discharged from the service of the United States on the 5th day of July, 1865, at Annapolis. It describes him as born at Roxbury, in the State of Vermont, and as eighteen years of age, five feet five inches high, light complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, and occupation when enrolled a clerk
