~~Grethel Venus Black, 75, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 1984 at DePaul Hospital, Cheyenne,WY, following an extended illness.

Services were held Feb. 6 at the Schrader-Prell mortuary conducted by Rev. Daniel Barcus. Burial was in the cemetery at Wheatland, WY.

Pallbearers were LeRoy McCartney, Robert E. McCartney, Thomas McCartney, Randall Hughes, Huey Dawson and Jay Dawson. Honorary pallbearers were Marion E. McCartney, Lloyd Johanns, Lloyd Shindelbower and GusVerplanke.

Mrs. Black was born May 10, 1908 in Orrick, the daughter of Marion and Lydia Jane (Turner) Mills.

July 13, 1933 she was married to Cyrus M. Black at Douglas, WY. She and her husband homesteaded at Esterbrook, WY, moving to Wheatland in 1940.

In 1922 she was baptized and became a member of the Union Baptist Church, Orrick. She was a charter member of the Indian Paintbrush Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Rebolution.

Survivors include a son, James W. Black, Buena Vista, CO; three grandchildren, Deborah, Rebecca and Charles, Three great-grandchildren; a sister, Rebekah McCartney, Wheatland; a brother, Harley M. Mills, Gobler, MO; nieces, nephews and a host of cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyrus, and a daughter, Cytha Louise; a sister, **Lena, and one great-grandchild.

A memorial has been established for the diabetic fund for anyone wishing to contribute.

Mr. and Mrs. Clell Bellis, Camden, MO and Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Bellis, Excelsior Springs, MO drove to Wheatland, WY, Feb. 4 to attend the funeral of their aunt, Mrs. Grethel Black. They returned Feb. 8.~~
