Greer Alexander Rites Held Friday
Funeral services for Greer Alexander, 54, Tuscumbia resident and native of Lawrence County, were held Friday afternoon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Wren. Burial was made in the Landersville Cemetery, Brown Service of Tuscumbia directing.
Mr. Alexander had resided in Tuscumbia since February, moving there from Moulton. He was employed as a carpenter by a construction company. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He died at 3:30 p.m. last Wednesday at Eliza Coffey Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ethel Fretwell Alexander, Tuscumbia; three sons, Winfred Alexander Sheffield 1, Wendell Alexander, Gadsden, and Billy G. Alexander, Sheffield; two daughters, Mrs. Aretues Burch, Birmingham, and Miss Joydale Alexander, Tuscumbia.
Also surviving are his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Will Alexander, Mt. Hope; five brothers, C. W. Alexander, Landersville; Paul Alexander, Moulton 1, Gene Alexander, Redding, Calif.; Bill Alexander, Moulton 3; and Forney Alexander, Sheffield, three sisters; Mrs. Vivian Gibson, Moulton 3; Mrs. Mabel Richardson, Tuscumbia 2; and Mrs. Willie Myrtle Blankenship, Montgomery; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
