Jim's obituary, which was published in the Salt Lake Tribune on Sunday, January 25, 2009:

James Lowe, 66, passed away on January 20, 2009 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born July 24, 1942 in Salt Lake City, the son of Grant A. and Elizabeth Kramer Lowe.

Jim married Anna "Tootsie" Abila on July 18, 1964 in Pomona, California.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and loved sports, hunting, fishing, camping, gambling, and football. He knew no strangers — he could talk to anyone.

Jim served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from Smurfit-Stone after thirty-three years of service. Jim was a longtime resident of West Jordan.

Survived by his wife, Tootsie; children, Tim (Jenny) Lowe, Tamara Lowe Gibbons, and Charlie (Emmie) Russom; four grandchildren, Robi, Britni, Brandon, and Anna; sister, Janace Spear; brother, John "Jack" (Judy) Lowe; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Annie Darlene; and brothers, Grant and Rex.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 7405 South Redwood Road (1700 West). A celebration of life/visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., on Monday, January 26, 2009 at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road (1700 West).
Interment: Redwood Memorial Estates.
